Do you work for or manage a firm involved with renovation, repair, or painting work? If so, there is a new EPA regulation that could affect you and/or your firm if 6 square feet or more of interior painted surfaces or 20 square feet or more of exterior painted surfaces will be disturbed during your work.
Under the new EPA RRP rule, beginning April 22, 2010, contractors (painters, remodeling firms, plumbers, etc.), and other performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb greater than the threshold level for interior and/or exterior lead-based paint in homes, apartments, condos, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified. Also, firms must have at least one "certified Renovator" assigned to the jobs where lead-based paint is disturbed. There are notification, paint testing, work practice and final cleaning issues that must be carried out and most of these processes will be new to most remediation contractors. |

Customer Appreciation Day Is Back! Thursday, November 19th |

 That's right everybody, Customer Appreciation Day is back after a one year hiatus. This year we gained incredible support from our vendors to make it happen. We're also celebrating our 55th anniversary this year making this show the best ever. We'll have our crowd pleasing BBQ from Dustin's, several of our suppliers on hand to introduce new products and answer questions, door prizes and prize drawings. To make this years event special we'll feature performance art from local artist extraordinaire PEREGO. He's planned a special performance just for us. We'll also have another renowned local artist, Daniel Ambrose. He'll be painting on-site and promoting the new Florida Painting School, a laid-back approach to professional art instruction held right here at Southern Paint. |

Coronado Paint Closing Edgewater Facility |

Yesterday, Coronado Paint announced that they will be closing their Edgewater manufacturing and  warehouse facility. NO, CORONADO PAINT IS NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS, they're simply consolidating facilities with their parent company, Benjamin Moore. With warehouse and manufacturing plants in such close proximity of each other, it only makes sense for them to combine operations into existing buildings. Warehousing of inventory will move the Orlando Benjamin Moore Distribution Center and manufacturing will take place in Pell City, Alabama, another Benjamin Moore plant.
As for all the loyal Coronado customers concerned about the Coronado product lines, no need to worry. All Coronado brands and formulas will remain available through the one and only, the myth, the legendary Southern Paint & Supply Company. So fear no more! We will make our necessary inventory adjustments to make this transition seamless and invisible to you.
